I like Where the Wild Things Are By Maurice Sendak because it allows me to use my imagination to take a trip.
Can't forget those great Little Golden Books
Who remembers them from their childhood?
Mom's Favorite
Mom likes Millions of Cats by Wanda Ga'G. It was first published in 1928 and was read by Captian Kangaroo.
Good vs. Evil
Great read about the good of the white bats in the colored forest versus the evil of the black bats in the black forest.
Another book from Captian Kangaroo
Written in 1939 by Virginia Lee Burton, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel is another of mom's favorites.
Sally's Favorites
Two books by Donald Miller, a writer who writes about true feelings that we all experience in life. Searching for God Knows What and Blue Like Jazz.
Felecia's Favorites
Avid reader Felecia loves Blink by Malcolm Gladwell and The Shack by William P. Young. Both very good books. The Shack will definitely get you thinking.
Ni's Favorite
Ni likes My Name is Yoon by Helen Recorvitz. She likes it because it tells a lot about her kids when they first arrived in this country.
Tabatha's Favorite
This Shel Silverstein book is a favorite of mine for two reasons: It is a really lovely story and because my grandma gave me a copy of it when I was little instilling a love of reading. First published in 1964 by Harper and Row.
For those who love the classics
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith is a frequent reread for many. It was first published in 1943.
Richard's Favorite
This 1894 short story from Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book was Richard's favorite bed time story. He had to have it read every night (and it is very long to read at night)
Sweet Little Find
Epossumondas by Coleen Salley is a story I just happened upon while looking for something else. It is just such an adorable story that I fell in love with and that the kids really enjoy hearing told to them.
